A Detached Flight is too small to operate as a squadron in its own right. A detached flight will have between 15 and 30 cadets and will operate as a satellite of a larger squadron.
Although administratively a different type of entity to a squadron, in reality, they operate in a very similar fashion. From the point of view of cadets, there will be very little difference between being attached to a detached flight or to a squadron.
Accommodation
Unlike a squadron, a detached flight is not entitled to its own accommodation. Detached flights will normally parade at community areas, such as schools, churches, community centres and civic centres.
